A relaxing trip south west of Sydney past rolling pastures will take you to Australia’s unique capital city. Canberra is a modern, planned city with fascinating architecture, museums, galleries & the spectacular Parliament House.
Parliament House; This impressive, round , modern building, with its marble floors & fabulous art will impress when you see how it flows into the landscape.
Australian War Memorial; These buildings house displays, memorials, & information about the terrible loss of life incurred by Australians during several wars around the world.
National Embassies; Many countries have designed their Canberra embassies in keeping with their unique culture. You will see many of these in the suburb of Yarralumla.
Mount Ainslie; We drive up through rainforest to the top of the mountain to see a 360 degree view of Canberra, the surrounding mountains & with a bit of luck, some kangaroos in the bush.
Free time 1.5 hours; This can be used for the following. The National Gallery (free) with its 120,000 Australian & international works, the award-winning National Museum (free), Questacon, the National Science & Technology Centre ($20).
